- Accelerating global shared growth through beneficiary-focused initiatives, including tire donations, biodiversity conservation, and support for vulnerable groups

Seoul, Korea, October 10, 2025 — Global leading tire company Hankook Tire & Technology (hereafter Hankook Tire) held a ceremony on October 8 (local time) in Cikarang Pusat, Bekasi Regency, Indonesia, marking the successful completion of its “Streetlight Installation Project,” aimed at improving the local traffic environment.

The project, launched in 2024 as part of Hankook Tire’s global CSR initiatives, was designed to ensure nighttime safety for residents living near Hankook’s Indonesia Plant. This year, in close collaboration with the local police, the company installed 30 high-efficiency LED streetlights along two sections totaling 3 kilometers in length starting in September.

The areas where the streetlights were installed have long been prone to flooding, making nighttime walking and driving highly dangerous, while also being vulnerable to crime and public safety concerns. With this donation, Hankook Tire not only ensures safer and more convenient travel for local residents and employees of its Indonesia Plant but also anticipates that the brighter streets will help boost the night-time economy, thereby contributing to the local community.

In particular, this initiative aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030. Under the objective of “Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11),” Hankook Tire has installed a total of 60 high-efficiency LED streetlights in the region since last year, playing a key role in continuously improving local living conditions in underdeveloped infrastructure areas and significantly improving the quality of life for residents.

Meanwhile, Hankook Tire has been carrying out a range of local community-based CSR campaigns across Indonesia, including in the Bekasi region. Prior to this project, in August, employees from Hankook’s Indonesia Plant participated in a mangrove planting initiative at Sederhana Beach in Bekasi, where a total of 5,000 mangrove trees were planted to contribute to climate change mitigation and biodiversity conservation.

In addition, Hankook Tire has been donating tires annually to local public and private organizations to support safe and efficient operations. The company is also conducting beneficiary-focused community initiatives, such as educational and medical support programs for children from low-income families and sponsorship activities for vulnerable communities.

Looking ahead, Hankook Tire plans to actively fulfill its corporate social responsibility by maintaining close communication with local communities across its global production bases, including Indonesia, the United States, Hungary, and China. At the same time, the company aims to realize sustainable future values in collaboration with these communities.
